FixIt: Health Care at the Tipping Point

The Love Chapmantown Community Coalition, along with the Butte County Health Care Coalition and the Chico Peace and Justice Center will show "FixIt: Health Care at the Tipping Point", a film exploring single-payer health care.

Saturday, October 14, 6:30pm at the Dorothy Johnson Center, 775 E. 16th Street.

The film will be followed by a panel with Norma Wilcox, David Welch, and Lynn Huidekoper, registered nurses with decades of experience in health care. There is no charge for admission.

This documentary takes an in-depth look into how our dysfunctional health care system is damaging the economy, suffocating businesses, discouraging physicians, and negatively impacting the nation's health, while remaining unaffordable for a third of the nation's citizens. The film features more than forty voices advocating for reform, including health policy experts, economists, physicians, nurses, patients, and business and labor leaders.

Fix-It clarifies many of the misconceptions about single-payer, including whether it represents “socialism,” whether it increases taxes, and whether it results in loss of choice of health care services. It is an especially important film given congressional attempts to roll back the Affordable Care Act and replace it with draconian programs that will cause over 20 million Americans to lose their health insurance.

The panel will be moderated by Chapman Coalition member Stephen Tchudi, who will invite questions from attendees. Snacks and raffle prizes will be part of the evening.
